DIY property investment is not always best – use a property mentor

There has been a lot of talk recently on the property market in New Zealand – well mostly the talk is centralised in two main regions – Christchurch and Auckland.

Both regions are leading the way with higher average property sales and volume properties in the market.  New Zealanders have a love affair with property – they love the fact that they can see and touch it – unlike other investments e.g. shares.  Yes there was reasonable interest in Mighty River Power but it pales in comparison to the increased interest in property investment.

Property Investment does not always work out well, like all investments there is risk.  To minimise the risk and increase the returns or yield Property Mentors are being secured by people interested in getting it right before they buy – over the DIY learn along the way making mistakes etc.  Mistakes can be costly so securing a property mentor can make the difference.

New Zealand has a few property mentors and they all offer quite difference services so it is important to do your research and elect a property mentor who offers you what you need when you need it.  How you determine what you need will depend on your level of current knowledge and experience, your risk profile, and goals.  Also knowing if you wish to buy and hold properties or trade or a mix of both is vital to securing the property mentor who can support and improve your skills as a property investor.
